A very rare figure of a Tang lady seated on a barrel stool in a long robe and large hairdo gently holding a dog. Original Tang figures look beautiful at all angles. Made of a fine red colored clay, it was originally painted but the slip and color have worn away revealing only the clay underneath.

It has a deep, rich spinach-green color with dark mottling. It is excellently carved in-relief, all around, with birds perching on leafy Chrysanthemum branches rising from rocks...
