GBP £495 Rare Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Hexagonal Porcelain Jar
This rare blue & white porcelain jar of hexagonal form was made during the 16th Century. It is quite "heavily-potted" and attractively decorated in underglaze blue of good colour. Each of the six sides features a chrysanthemum blossom (the emblem of friendship and representing a life of ease). Around the shoulder is what is possibly a cloud collar (representing long life)... Pair of late Qing dynasty Guangxu period circular form lidded seal paste boxes, each decorated in two underglaze blue relief dragons chasing a flaming pearl on a white porcelain ground. An undulating wave pattern extends around the bottom. An apocryphal four-character Qianlong mark is on the base. 3 3/4” dia. x 2 1/4” high. Circa 1900. Very good overall condition. The interior edge of one box has a pinhead-sized frit (see image)...

Chinese Qing dynasty circular form lidded box finely decorated in pencil-thin strokes of underglaze blue on a white porcelain ground. The center of the domed lid features a nobleman on horseback flanked by an attendant walking in front and behind. The rounded sides are filled with a dense, repeating motif of figures seated at a table. A double circle is on the center of the glazed base. 4 1/2" diameter x 2 1/2" high. 19th century.
