The Vung Tau Shipwreck refers to a cargo ship of Chinese ceramics that sank in the waters of the Can Doa Islands, nearby to Vung Tao Vietnam between 1690 and 1700, where it had briefly stopped to re-supply on its way to Batavia (Jakarta Indonesia)...

A celadon ewer or water dropper was intriguingly mold as chicken pot. By cute-looking spout and simple-form wings, the porcelain pot was applied with glass-sheen glaze all over the surface. On the unglazed bottom, the dense-feel clay was revealed and was with adhesives of burial earth. Crackles and abrasions were resulted from incursions too. It was kept in very fine condition...

Chinese late Ming (16th/17th century) Zhangzhou (Swatow) porcelain deep charger decorated in iron-red, green, and black overglaze enamels on a cream-colored crackle glaze ground with a central roundel holding flowering peonies. A band containing four floral panels against a crossed line ground extends around the circumference of the rim. 13" diameter x 2 3/4" high. There is significant wear to the enamels and several very old rim chips (see enlargements 6 and 7)...

Typical wanli pattern of swastikas on the shoulder, the rest of the jar decorated with gardens and two flying cranes, China, Wanli (1573-1620). Condition: two hairline cracks on the mouth rim, one of them with an almost invisible related crack on the shoulder. Dimensions: H. 17,5 cm, Diameter 17 cm.

Condition: age wear and rim fritting, no cracks or repairs.

The underside is painted with elongated prunus branches under the rim and with stylized peach branches to the inside. The base is unglazed. This item was made in China, probably for export, in the second half of the 16th Century, circa 1550-1600...

USD $275.00 A MING SWATOW (ca. 1625) Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Plate with thick, shiny glaze, depicting a Phoenix in the center medallion surrounded by a border featuring auspicious symbols. The back side of the plate also has some decor. There are a few firing imperfections (unglazed well/spots) as shown in the photograph and some kiln sand/grit deposit on the back base of the plate, which is common in Ming ware and a sign of authenticity. A Longquan table screen was preserved in perfect condition. It was heavily potted and shaped in good size and was decorated on one side with imprint of poems with real scholar taste. Whitish incursions had happened to the glaze when body clay was revealed at the feet with applied darken brownish layers. Date: Ming Dynasty. 15th/16th century. Height: 14.7cm, Width: 12.3cm. A CUSTOM-MADE SILK BOX IS INCLUDED. Decorated with floral patterns and Buddhist symbols. H. 6,5 cm D. 15 cm. The glaze with age cracks and some firing flaws. No damage or repair.
