Fine Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Kraak Porcelain Dish - Birds (21 cm)

This fine and very attractive blue & white porcelain dish of good size, and with a foliated rim, was made during the Wanli reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. The decoration is particularly fine and the underglaze blue is of very good colour. The pattern features in its centre two birds, one standing on a rock within a garden, the other in flight...

A Ming Dynasty dish with Ivory-white glaze, Fujian wares possibly Zhangzhou 16th-17th century. condition is good except a tiny chip to rim, otherwise is perfect. Found at South Sulawesi. Diameter: 28,5 cm.

Chinese enameled porcelain bowl, centered with a shou medallion encircled by five bats and with the character 'wan shou wu jiang' on a yellow ground with gourds, flowers and tendrils, the base with an apocryphal Qianlong mark. Painted to depict lotus blossoms and tendrils, having a seal mark in underglaze red to underside, interior and foot ring glazed turquoise, raised on carved hardwood stand, measures 6.5"Dia. x 2.75"H, circa late 19th-early 20th century. Condition Report; Very tiny chip to the exterior, not all the way through, of the rim.

Chinese enameled porcelain bowl, exteriodr decorated with floral design and cartouche depicting Chinese character, from late 19th/early 20th century period, bears Chinese seal mark to the base. Lovely fluted porcelain teapot decorated in the Imari palette with butterflies and flowers. H. 12,5 cm. This teapot is in in excellent condition: original lid, no cracks, chips or repairs, only minor ware to the gilding.

Chinese small meiping form porcelain vase with a lovely bright apple green crackle underglaze. Dark brown rim edge. Inside the vase, just below the rim, is done in beige crackle glaze as well as the underside of the recessed foot. Perfect condition.

From our Chinese Blue and White Collection, a good ginger jar with "double shu" design bestowing "double happiness," late 19th century, either Tongzhi (1862-1874) or Guangxu Period (1875-1908).

Jars such as this current example were often given as gifts containing foodstuffs with the lids glued shut. As a result, many lids were broken upon opening and subsequently lost to history, which is why so many are seen without their original lids...
