Set of four Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain wine cups decorated in the doucai style in underglaze blue and overglaze famille rose enamels with a butterfly among flowering plants. An underglaze blue geometric border is at the rim. A six-character blue kaishu Daoguang mark (1821-1859) is on the base and the set is probably of the period. There are faint lightly incised “CHINA” marks to the bases for export purposes. About 3 3/8” diameter x slightly over 2 1/2” high...

A Collection of four medium sized porcelain boxes used to decorate the ancestral altar. The boxes are in the shape of a peach, a persimmon, a melon and a squash, and all have turquoise glazed interiors. Such boxes were used to hold trinkets and precious offerings when worshiping ones' ancestors. The peach measure 3" in diameter, The melon measures 3 1/4" in diameter, the persimmon measures 3 1/2" long, and the squash measures 3 3/4" long. The peach and melon are in excellent condition...

It is quite "heavily-potted" and coated in a thick pale olive-green glaze. The body, when soft, was indented with five wide vertical impressions to give it a lobed appearance. Porcelain cup with curved sides, with a hand painted blue decor on a white background representing a landscape showing on the left side a rocky lakeshore with two old men sitting under a gnarled tree, and the right side a fisherman rowing on a boat. Above the scenery, a four line inscription. Two character mark beneath. The rim is protected by a bronze circle, but this is not meant to hide any blemish. China, Qing Dynasty. Height: 3,3 cm. A rare finely painted pair of underglaze blue decorated dragon and phoenix 'wedding' dishes made in Jingdezhen, southern China, and exported to Europe in the late 19th or early 20th Century during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). Condition: there are some production iron marks;there is a 1.5cm hairline visible on the back of the phoenix dish and there is a light 2.5cm hairline to the rim of the dragon dish.
