Minor glaze losses and tiny chips. Originally had a horsehair beard. Early 20th century. 22” high. From the Phoenix, Arizona estate of a former expatriate to China from 1983-1987.

An interesting, rare and unusual, Buddhist Dehua image of a meditating Luohan in a cave overgrown with branches, his hands holding a begging bowl. This is a well-known motif of the Ming dynasty. Done with very fine details demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship. Hollow modeled. Signed with seal on the back: He Chaozong. Late Qing to early Republican Period, ca. 1900–1930. H 16 cm. Condition: Excellent. Most probably a unique piece and extremely charming!

Chinese late Qing dynasty Yixing stoneware teapot of buff colored clay with globular body, fixed upright U-shaped handle, and slightly concave base. The body is decorated around the circumference with relief applied leafy grape vines. The spout and handle are formed to resemble knotty twigs. Large Chinese Qing dynasty Guangxu period porcelain jar decorated in famille verte enamels with two central panels on opposing sides. One panel features a veranda with a woman kneeling before an official and his attendant. The opposing panel depicts beauties and children in a garden setting. Between the two large panels are two smaller floral roundels. The panels are set against a cream-colored crackled glaze background densely covered in rust-red flowers and green scrolling foliage...

Chinese late Qing dynasty sang-de-boeuf (oxblood) flambé glazed cylindrical form censer. The oxblood glaze drips inside at the rim above the thick off-white glaze lining the interior. The censer rests upon vestiges of three small tripod legs. The base is unglazed and has burnt orange. As is typical of late 19th century examples, the base shows evidence where the glaze ran off the base and was broken off the kiln supports. 7 3/8” diameter x 5 1/2” high. Very good overall condition...
