$425.00 A striking Japanese black cloisonne box with a hinged lid. The lid features flowers and a tree at the water's edge. The bottom is decorated with scrolling wires against a black ground. The scrolling wire pattern continues on the sides and is accented with small white flowers. In excellent condition, it measures 3.5" by 4" by 1.5" high. Size would have worked for use as a cigarette box. Dates early 20th C.

Within the foot-rim can be found the gold mark ‘Satsuma Hosai’ and a Shimazu mon in white enamel...

A pleasure to view, the off-kilter form is blasted with powdery dry ash on one side which turns to molten rivulets on the edges crawling around to bead up on the opposite dark shiny clay. sold, thank you A pair of exquisite fluted porcelain bottles decorated in rich color by Tokuda Yasokichi II enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Flowers in various colors, red, yellow, purple blue and green rise up between patterned undulating bands of green and blue. Each is signed on the base in a yellow seal Kutani Yasokichi. They are 15 cm tall and in perfect condition.
The Tokuda family kiln was established by the first Yasokichi (1873-1956)、born into the house of a textile dying family...
