A pair of lovely lacquered antique Japanese Hibachis (braziers) using a refined Kamakurabori technique. Featuring Chrysanthemums (Kiku) and Paulownia (Kiri) flowers and leaves with a bronze insert. Originally used as hand warmers during the cold of winter, they make elegant flower pots for plants and Ikebana flower arrangements.

An unusual brilliantly colored fresh water jar for the tea ceremony by Living National Treasure Tokuda Masahiko (Yasokichi III) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. There are chips to the lacquer on the handle of the lid, which are currently being professionally repaired...

This lovely Shino tea bowl fashioned from coarse Mino clay is covered in feldspar glazing, has a classic ferrous abstract painting across the front, and shows nice age—most likely from early to middle Edo.

Shino-ware dates to the Momoyama period when potters were attempting to recreate white porcelain-wares that were being imported from China at the time. Originally they were made in a single-chamber anagama style kilns set into the hillsides...
