Slightly distorted cylinder shaped (tsuzu) tea bowl with straight walls, made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potter's knife around the foot ring.

The bowl was partly covered with black iron oxide glaze of the non glossy type (preferable!) and then covered with a black glaze in the style of a Seto-guro bowl. On the other half it is decorated with two oxcart wheels...

An antique Japanese low Mizuya Tansu made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original iron handles on upper sliding doors. A pair of large sliding doors allows for spacious storage. Originally used in Japan as a kitchen chest for the storage of dry goods and cooking/serving ware, it would function well as a buffet or sideboard chest.

It is a Japanese antique uchishiki of silk (chirimen) of the hand yuzen dye tsutsugaki of the highest class in Edo period. The bold composition of the paulownia is impressive with the Chinese phoenix. Yuzen kimono is also very polite. There are two small repair marks. Pair Japanese Nabeshima Porcelain Dishes, Meiji 1920, impressed mark Kotobuki(Longevity) on the bottom, 8 1/4" diameter, 2" high, Basket weave interlocked between red and blue color for entire surface, with underglaze blue combed design on high rim, underneath has multiple coin shape design in three(3) areas in underglaze blue. Hand painted details of exact lines is superb, high quality work. The condition is good, no damages.

Very rare small silk holder in black and gold lacquered wood. Similar models but of normal size to carry kimono are not frequent but of this small size it is quite exceptional. I am not sure about the function, but as the object can be dismantled easily, I think it is a travel silk stand, probably for towels. The decoration of gold powder tendrils on a black lacquer background surrounds the Mon of 2 families which leads me to believe that this silk holder was a wedding gift...
