This is a rare Yabu Meizan Censer. It is not decorated with gold details and painting but is still an attractive item with its rich turquoise colored glaze. The first and second images show how it appears under normal lighting. It probably does not have the original cover but this silver one is more functional than the ivory covers we have seen. The silver lids fit perfect.

Japanese two section clothing tansu, made with Kiri (paulownia) wood. Decorated with classic round iron locks and handles. The lower section holds a corner safe box.

A large contemporary print by artist Tanaka Ryohei. Scene of a garden gate opening to the rising morning sun, a green grasshopper crawling along the latch. Signed in pencil, numbered 69/100 in it series, dated 2001.

Antique Japanese small tansu chest made of kiri (paulownia) wood. It has six drawers of various sizes and a compartment with a small shelf covered by two sliding panels. Hardware is made of iron and includes warabite shaped drawer pulls, round lock plates, corner bracing and side handles.

Japanese large half section Mizuya, or kitchen buffet tansu, constructed of Hinoki wood frame and Sugi wood panels. The large pair of sliding doors open to the spacious interior with two removable shelves straight across. The sides of the chest have horizontal bracing slats for reinforcement.

Japanese half section Mizuya or kitchen buffet tansu. Constructed of Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) wood. The piece opens by two large front sliding panels to the large interior with 2 recessed shelves. The sides of the chest have horizontal bracing slats for reinforcement.

Condition: Excellent. Back top margin has tape residue. Very slight bend lower right corner. Pencil notation at lower back margin.

Japanese set of 10 blue and white sobachoko or soba cups. With cobalt blue underglaze floral motifs and ocean landscapes, double ring below the inner rim, and a floral medallion in the center of the well with single ring. The foot is slightly recessed and left unglazed except for the center.

Antique Japanese kannon biraki isho tansu (chest on chest for clothing with hinged doors). Made with kiri (paulownia) wood on the front with sugi (cryptomeria) wood on the sides, top and interior. The top section has two hinged doors which open to reveal two interior drawers. The bottom section has two large exterior drawers of different sizes. The lower right hand corner has a safe box with a hinged door and two small interior drawers...

An antique Japanese Choba (merchant) Tansu of hinoki wood and iron hardware. The top section has one large drawer with two handles. The middle section has two sliding doors with slats. The lower section has 5 drawers with a safe drawer with two interior drawers.

An antique Japanese Kannon Biraki Tansu (wedding kimono chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. The top section has two doors with a special lock from the inside that secures the doors. When open the doors reveal one large drawer and two smaller drawers on the right hand corner. The lower drawer has a secret compartment for documents. The bottom section has two large drawers. Both drawers have opposing hand holds cut into the interior sides for easy carrying...

A beautiful combination of grays and lavenders covers the natural sculpted form in sunset color Hagi clay by legendary artisan Kaneta Masanao enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hagi Kurinuki Hanaire dating circa 2000. It is 30 x 24 x 23 cm (12 x 10 x 9 inches) and is in excellent condition.
Kaneta Masanao likely needs no introduction, certainly one of Hagi is most well known names, he has been displayed both nationally and internationally innumerable times...

An antique Japanese 2 section Kiri Kasane Tansu (stacked chest on chest) with handmade iron fittings. Bottom section features a hinged door behind which houses 2 small drawers). The top of each lock plate displays a stylized Chrysanthemum while above each handle has a plum blossom Ue Atari (upper handle stopper).

An antique Japanese Ko Tansu (personal storage chest) made entirely of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Hand made iron fittings with Warabite style drawer pulls. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails.

Original use was for the family storage of ephemera, small valuables, letters, documents, etc...
