A prototypical Momoyama style Iga vase by Atarashi Kanji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Mimitsuki Hanaire. It is 24 cm tall (just under 10 inches) and in excellent condition.
Atarashi Kanji was born in Osaka in 1944, and graduated the Osaka College of Craft design. After 3 years in Kobe, and 4 in Kishiwada (Wakayama) he came to settle in Iga, where he was one of the driving forces behind the resurrection and preservation of the Iga tradition...

Two long bags made of hand spun cotton, probably bags for swords. The top one is katazome "tsuta", ivy motif. The purple belt is made of silk crepe. The bottom one is katazome and vegetable indigo dye. Both are in excellent condition. 19th century. Top:12cm x 75cm, Bottom:16cm x 78cm

Antique Japanese large hanging suiban (container for water and flowers) made of bronze. Elongated oval form incised with dragons and swirling clouds. Outfitted with three hooks and chains for hanging. Inscribed signature: 藤原昌則 Fujiwara Masanori.

A vintage Japanese Tansu chest in the Choba (merchant) style made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. Iron hardware with Warabite handles. Seven drawers of varying sizes and a pair of sliding doors behind which is a spacious storage area. With two side carrying handles.

This is a wonderful vintage Japanese Raku style tea cup of Ohi ware with an amazing amber glaze which was made about 50-60 years ago by Rakusai Ohi. The seal of 'Ohi' is stamped on the bottom. The original wooden box with the signature and the seal of the artist is also included.

Ohi ware has become well known for its use of Ame-gusuri, or amber glaze. Being a Raku style, it was low-fired and is quite light and soft in the hands...

This exceptional tanto is very original, unique in its kind, it represents a bundle of lotus flowers wrapped in a canvas. The mount is in silver, embossed for the leaves of the sheath and cast for the flower buds at both ends. The seppa are in shakudo and gold. Some elements in gilded bronze. The design of the sheath is unique, it is a perfect imitation of a fabric canvas. It is made of woven bamboo fibers covered with lacquer...

A large Silent Shadows Series Sculpture by Sugitani Keizo in his signature oxidized copper green glaze. It is 46.5 x 27.5 x 14.5 cm (18-1/4 x 11 x 5-3/4 inches) and is in excellent condition, directly from the artist this summer. It is signed on the base Sugitani Keizo 210909 and comes with an artists certificate as well. The price includes an artist signed wooden box...

Lifetime edition Japanese shin hanga chuban sized woodblock print titled in kanji and English "Benkei Bridge" by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) dated Showa 16 (1941). Pencil-signed at the lower right margin and with the artist's black ink signature and red seal at the lower left corner of the image. Paper: 10 5/8" x 7 3/4" (image: 9 1/2” x 6 3/4”). Very good overall condition with full margins.

A vibrant image of a paradisaical island over which soar white cranes by Shirakura Kanyu (Niho) enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Horai Senkyo-zu. This scroll is signed Kanyu, placing it in or after 1940 , when he changed his art name. It is performed with pigment on silk in a fine silk border with solid ivory rollers (these will be changed if exporting). It is 145 x 65.5㎝ (57 x 26 inches) and is in excellent original condition...

No two faces are the same on this incredible Toyoraku ceramic stacking box covered in gold and silver Maki-e lacquer dating from the 19th century. Inside is typical Oribe style green over crackled cream colored glaze with floral designs in iron. Outside lightning strikes in silver separate the multitude of intense lattice designs in fine gold lines on black lacquer. Stacked they are 15 x 13 x 17 cm, each vessel 15 x 13 x 4.5cm tall, and in excellent condition...

Antique Japanese set of five lotus leaves and blossoms. Carved of wood and lacquered silver. Made for a Buddhist altar, these leaves and blossoms symbolize the stages of the path toward enlightenment. Every petal of the lotus flower is carved separately. Each blossom and leaf comes fitted with a custom metal stand so they can be rearranged at will.
