A very attractive and fine cast iron incense container (kogo) for use in tea ceremony decorated with a motif from the Ten Ox-herding Pictures of Zen Buddhism. Inside covered in gold. Signed by Suzuki Morihisa (1920–1981), a 14th generation of cast iron-makers from Morioka who later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo. A frequent exhibitor at the Nitten. With original signed kiri-tomobako and artist's information paper. Showa period ca. 1960. H 3 cm, D 7,2. Condition: Perfect.

A fabulous stone textured Guinomi by Inayoshi Osamu enclosed in the original signed wooden box featuring dark raw clay alternating with black and white glaze. Gold nuggets gleam on the deep lavender and black surface of this organic form by Inayoshi Osamu enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Kurinuki Kinsai Mizusashi. Kinsai is literally gold color, and here the artist has embedded gold into the surface, allowing it to expand and bubble out in the heat of the firing process. The effect of this on the dark matt surface is both striking and original...

Important and rare bowl, large in size, scalloped in shape, with a small heel, from the Satsuma kilns. On a blue enamel background, the decoration represents cherry blossoms with a couple of peacocks among peonies inside. The whole is of a very good quality of gold and polychrome enamels. Meiji period (1868-1912). Signed Koshida. Diameter 18,5 cm height : 7 cm.

A large and very impressive Bronze model of a male lion cast in naturalistic style as is common for Japanese export bronzes from this period. Glass eyes. Marked with a seal: Kyomitsu zo: made by Kyomitsu. Meiji, late 19th cent. ca. 1890. L 56 cm, H 30 cm. Condition: Excellent.

A Karatsu style shuhai sake cup with cream glaze decorated inside and out by the Zen Priest Nakahara Nantenbo, a priest who was instrumental in reviving the Zen tradition in the beginning of the 20th century.
