A bowl or cup of unusual Klapmuts form with an angled everted rim decorated in under-glaze blue with Auntumn grasses, akikusa. Shards of identical cups have been excavated from the Okawachi kiln site and dated to the late Edo period and the first half of the Nineteenth century. A magnificent Kuro Oribe Chawan of larger size and wonderful shape, made during the end of the Edo period (1615-1868). This kind of shoe-shaped bowl is called kutsu-chawan. It is a design often found in Oribe ware, which presents some of the most free forms and decorations in the world of tea potteries.

The bowl is in great condition, considered its age. It will be shipped in a high class and fitted wooden box.

Finely detailed Satsuma jar with 4 male figures comprising 2 scenes. One scene depicts Shoki with a nobleman, the other a Samurai teacher with his student. An exceptional piece and what we were not able to capture in the photos is the depth and richness of the translucent glazes. Wood stand and lid were added later and are included. Measures on stand with lid 9.5". Jar alone measures 7.5" high x 6" diameter. Jar dates about 1875.

Pair of 19th century Chinese porcelain bowls with custom stands. In excellent antique condition, the dishes each measure 8.25" long, 6" wide, and 2.75" high. Antique Himalayan tall yak butter lamp. Made of hand hammered copper with gilt bronze applied details depicting Buddhist auspicious symbols. The butter would have melted and burned for a measured amount of time depending on the size and the amount in the lamp. A small hole in the bottom of the cup would have held a sort of wick to provide a long lasting light. Overall repouse details are in great detail. Original patina.

In Hindu and Buddhist mythology, a Naga is a semidivine being, half human and half dragon serpent. Nagas can assume either wholly human or wholly serpentine form. They live in an underground kingdom filled with beautiful palaces that are adorned with gems. Size; 90cm X 70cm. Condition: two age cracks between the head and body. Overall in very good condition.

Japanese late Meiji period bronze vase with silver inlaid bamboo decoration on the front. At the bottom of the back is the incised signature of the engraver Mitsunobu. The base reads "Kyoto Kuroda made." 6 1/8" high. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with a nice patina. The silver has not been polished. There is a vertical area on the back that feels slightly flattened, but is barely noticeable.
