DESCRIPTION: An antique hand-painted ceremonial drum with vivid motifs of large flowers with curling green tendrils against a red ground. Both ends of the drum are covered in animal hide and secured with round-headed metal studs. This highly decorative drum makes a perfect little end table, or adds a touch of exotic to any décor. Antique Chinese hardwood brush pot. Made of huanghuali wood (Dalbergia odorifera) of a cylindrical shape, the base with a slight protruding lip. The front of the brush pot is carved with a stylized bamboo forest; The opposite side carved with a calligraphy inscription and artist's chops. The original finish brings out the natural "ghost eye" woodgrain characteristic of huanghuali.

A small bag made of deer skin with shibori (tie-dye) pattern. The brown color is dyed with the technique called "fusube-gawa". The deer skin is smoked with burning rice straws and gets brown color. Thick shima-cho, a sample book of cortton shima (stripes) with about 870 fragments. The age is written on the cover "Meiji 3 (1870), however the age of the fragments range from very late Edo (mid 19th century) to Taisho (1920s). Antique Japanese Buddhist abbot's oxbow arm folding chair. Made of red and gilt lacquer hardwood, with seat made of leather. The backrest has gilt lacquered panels with geometric motif carvings and pierced lingzhi carving, the reverse of the backrest marked with a triple mokko-mon (family crest). The edges of the chair are decorated in metal plating incised with motifs of chrysanthemums.

This peach-shaped suiteki (water dropper for calligraphy) is made of fine kinuta celadon from one of the great masters of the Meiji era—Suwa Sozan. A classic design, the peach is said to represent long-life for mortals and immortality for the gods in asian folklore. According to legend, the moon goddess—a powerful alchemist—can make an elixir from peaches that grow in the garden of the western paradise with miraculous revitalizing properties.

DESCRIPTION: An attractive scholar's calligraphy brush, crafted using long brown horsehair bristles attached to a bulbous ox-horn ferrule and segmented, solid ox- horn shaft. A very handsome brush in good condition from the latter Qing Dynasty, which would have been used for calligraphy or painting. DIMENSIONS: 14” long (35.5 cm).

Antique Japanese Takeda Ningyo doll depicting a samurai warrior wielding a staff. The samurai wears hand-embroidered garb, his helmet rested against his shoulder, the meadate in the form of a dragon's head. The realistic eyes and facial features are all hand-painted, portraying menacing determination. The doll stands on a wooden base with inlay.

Antique Chinese pair of oxbow arm chairs with a matching rectangular stand, carved with a pierced scrolling vine motif, the heavy golden hardwood with classic Huanghuali "ghost eye" grain. Very heavy in weight.

A Chinese jade vase of flat baluster shape with Mughal style carving of flora and foliage to the body and the cover decorated with lappets. The vase is well hollowed and the stone is of pale hue with one natural vein. Age; late Qing, early 20 C. size: 16.3 cm high. condition; very good.

Antique Japanese 2-section isho tansu (clothing chest of drawers) made of Kiri (paulownia) wood, natural front drawers and red lacquer top and sides. The lockplates of every drawer are shaped as large open fans, and the corner hardware of each drawer are fan-shaped as well. The other hardware implements are decorative with pierced motifs.
