A very rare and characteristically glazed foo lioness with her left paw on the head of her baby. These usually come in pairs. One with the baby foo lion under the paw and one with a ball under the paw. This one has a lot of feeling with the baby foo lion looking annoyed with the paw pushing down on its head. There is always some humor with some of these statues. Size: H. 40cm. W. 35cm. Condition: Some pieces missing from age and weather.

Antique Japanese bronze statue of a hooded lady sitting upon a hardwood stand. She holds a cup in her hand with a small dish resting beside her feet. She is wonderfully sculpted with realistic detailing and form. The hardwood stand she is seated on is carved to look like rock formations with leaves and mushrooms with pigment traces. Important Antique Japanese Buddhist Pilgrim's coat. Buddhist monks would embark on a pilgrimage to travel temple to temple. Upon arriving to each temple, the monk would bathe before giving offerings and reciting prayers as well as receive a stamp distinctive to each temple. Normally a monk would carry around a special stamp book however it is not unusual to stamp the monk's coat as seen here.

Very rare to find one with so many locations marked and visited. Condition is very good origin...

Rare Japanese bar tansu from the Mikuni region, made with Hinoki (cypress) wood front panels and Sugi (cedar) wood top and sides. Heavy in weight, with structural bars along the back and sides, all original deep red lacquer finish, the front locking bar with highly ornate iron display of auspicious motifs and turtle shaped lock pin.

Edo period (1603-1868) Circa 1830's.

Antique Japanese 2-section todana tansu, comprised all of Keyaki (elm) wood, with stunning, bold natural burl front panels with original, warm finish. Simplistic design with minimalistic hardware. Its two lowest sets of sliding door panels hold spacious shelved storage room within, while the top holds an open space. A small lift-away panel with an eggplant shaped handle adds a subtle touch of charm.

Antique Japanese two section futon tansu. The upper section has double sliding burl wood panel doors which house a roomy storage interior. The bottom section is comprised of six burl front drawers with decorative cloud design locks.

A very rare large four scene Ming jar (1368 - 1644 AD) with three panels depicting the three friends and an additional panel of a small animal, the moon and a mountain scene. Size: H. 56cm. W. 38cm. Condition: No repairs. Some loss of the glaze around the rim. "For his residence, earth was piled to form a hill and a hundred plum trees, which along with lofty pines and tall bamboo comprise the friends of winter, were planted."

Pair of Antique Japanese ranma, or transom, carved with flying frames and clouds with black lacquer frames. Original patina and finish.

Chinese Ming dynasty zhangzhou swatow large dish decorated with blue and white ship, whale, birds and flowers. 47,2 cm diameter. Dish in original good condition. Free from any repair. except has original fault from the kiln (please see on the pictures).

One of a kind! Wonderful Shiro-Hira Raku Natsu (Summer) Chawan made and sealed by greatest Kichizaemon Konyu XII.

The wooden box has an attestation written by Sokuchusai, the 13th Omotesenke master. The chawan is named shira-kumo, white clouds.

No chips or cracks except natural inborn and intended kiln cracks for a great wabi-sabi aura.

Antique Aka Raku Chawan by greatest Kichizaemon Tan-nyu, ennobled with a REAL kintsugi gold repair.

Half cylinder shaped (Hanzutsu) tea bowl with a rounded brim, in the typical hand built style of the Raku family. The body is fully covered with a white engobe before the red glaze was applied.
