Very rare bronze AVA Buddhist Sculpture with Nimbus,17th Century, Burma, with naturally formed verdigris patina. The nimbus (halo of light) is a strong characteristic of the Ava style. Wonderful and complete sculpture of Padmavati, a Hindu goddess who is worshipped as an aspect of the goddess Lakshmi, but who also plays an important role in Jainisme as the protecting goddess of the 23rd Tirthankara. A large silk painting of a scene from the history of Japan by Kai Seihyo (1882-1974), one of Japan's noted painters specializing in historical subjects. Kai Seihyo was trained at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts.
