Cast bronze censer gilded with mercury. Decor of Greek friezes and incised precious objects. The gilding is largely worn, we still see some in the places most protected from wear and tear. It is thick and of good quality, it is a hot-pasted mercury gilding technique. The handles are attached to the body they were cast with it, they are not added, riveted or welded, they represent dragon heads. Almost square hand-made embroidery. On a background of green satin silk two lion dogs, or foo dogs, are playing with a ball and each other between peonies and other flowers, next to a rock formation, a bat in the upper right corner. They are embroidered by hand with bright colors of silk in straight stiches and looped stiches, the lions detailed and outlined with gold-thread, which are twisted silk threads wrapped in thin gold foil.

A beautiful set of 6 Antique JAPANESE SIGNED Wooden Stack Boxes that fit perfectly into one another! They show the exquisite natural lines of the wood and were finished with transparent lacquer varnish. Nice color of the wood, like mahagony. A group of 39 handcarved Chinese Mother of Pearl gaming Chips dating to c. 1800-1840.

Gaming chips in Mother of Pearl were crafted in China for export to Britain, where the Georgian and Victorian aristocracy used the chips when playing parlor games.

All 39 pieces have an elliptical shape, with criss cross patterns and floral motifs engraved in hand.

Original Japanese woodblock print by Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) of a Japanese captive insulting the King of Ancient Korea. From the series Kyodo Risshiki (Instructive Biographies) and published by Matsuki Heikichi, it is dated 1885. In excellent condition, it measures 14.75 inches high, 10" across.

Japanese scroll painting of two skeletons hard at work counting money. The calligraphy verse up top appears to be influenced by the Confucian scholar, Kameda Bosai and is sealed Gakubutsu. Below, the skeletons pour over accounting ledgers next to a large scale. This painted portion of the scroll is sealed Nisekisai. Painted in sumi-e ink on paper.

It is an astonishing vase which does not resemble anything known.The shape is very elegant and the decor simple but powerful. But I have absolutely no idea what it is.
