Meiji (1868-1912) Japanese Makie Lacquer Miniature Kodansu Cabinet Box with Drawers

It is 4.25 inches (10.8 cm) tall by 5.1 inches (13 cm) long and 3.4 inches (8.7 cm) wide. It is 369 gram (0.8 Lb).

Bronze dropper (suiteki) representing a chubby guardian lion, called komainu in Japanese or shishi in Chinese.

The komainu is inspired by the Chinese guardian lion shishi, which dates back to the Tang dynasty (581-618). Supposed to repel evil, it appears on both sides of the entrance to the doors or gates of shrines and temples.

A rare Chinese jade carving of a recumbent water buffalo. Laying with legs folded under his body, the buffalo extends his head forward. His ribbed horns curve backward, the tips almost meeting behind his neck. The artist's skill is evident in the naturalistic slope of the buffalo's spine over his rotund form as well as in the details of his face and tail. Carved of opaque yellow and brown mottled jade.

Very hard to find Chinese scholar's desk plank. Made of huanghuali wood, the plank has aged beautifully having a wonderful warm golden patina with a beautiful sheen. There are 3 minor age cracks at 3 of the 4 corners. These cracks do not compromise the integrity of this incredible scholar's item, but instead attests to its age. Planks were used to set objects on that a Scholar was using. He could have also used it to display an item or items. Measures 15" x 6.5" x .5"

19th Century Chinese Bronze Relief Bamboo Vase with Bronze Stand

It is 7.75 inches (19.7 cm) tall measured with stand by 3.15 inches (8 cm) wide. The vase is 6.65 inches (16.9 cm) tall by 3.15 inches (8 cm) wide measured without stand. The total weight including the stand is 679.7 gram.
