A heavy densely carved hardwood Anglo Indian stand. This item was made in South West India, in either Karnataka or Maharashtra,probably during the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition - good - no damages. 47.5cm (18.75inches) high; 43cm (17inches) wide.

Antique Japanese shinto mirror, tenka ichi. This mirror has a tassle tied through a turtle. The central motif is of a turtle over bamboo meeting the beaks of two cranes. The birds and turtle are on a beach with pine trees and bamboo bushes. This mirror would have been placed along with three others at the entrance to a shrine for those entering to see their reflection as they entered. Made of bronze, Edo period (c1800).
It measures 4 5/8" by 1/2" deep.

Antique Japanese shinto shrine mirror. The mirror has a central motif of a turtle meeting the beaks of two cranes. Three baby cranes and a small turtle walk along the beach. The three auspicious symbols of pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms invoke the island of longevity, horaisan. There is an inscription to ward off calamities. This mirror would have been placed on a wooden stand at the entrance to a shinto shrine for the visitor to see their reflection as they entered. Edo period, (c1800)....

Delightful antique Japanese tansu made of Kiri wood. This small symmetrical tansu has 6 drawers of various sizes and safe box in lower right hand corner and two small interior drawers. This is a very fine set of Japanese Imari Nesting Bowls. It is rare to get a set of this quality in this fine of condition. These bowls are old and they are antiques. The largest bowl measures 10 inches across and 4 1/4 tall. The condition is excellent on all three.

Antique Japanese, three section kiri or paulownia wood, stackable tansu. Each section has wrought iron fittings and hardware to stack the tansu and protect the tansu from damage. Each section is distinct in its design. The first section has a short cabinet with two sliding doors and five small drawers beneath it. The second section has a cabinet with three shelves. Beautiful Chinese bench, carved all of hardwood with inset areas of dramatic burl, rectangular marble in center of back, arms and back carved with scrolling key fret motif, elegantly curved legs, Republic Period. Jade carving of a bat spreading its wings on one side and on another side a coin shaped motif. Bats are considered to be an auspicious animal where the name is synonymous to fortune in Chinese. The coin contains a four character engraving possibly reading: Fu Shou Quan Shuang, or roughly translated as having both fortune and longevity. A lovely Chinese famille rose vase featuring court ladies relaxing in a garden setting, a popular Chinese theme. Colors are still rich and vibrant with calligraphy on the back. Dated circa 1900,without any damage, no chips, hairlines, it measures: 17 inches high.

A Chinese cabinet with two sections inside. The top shelf has two drawers and the bottom shelf has a single drawer. The bottom of the cabinet has metal rings to attach ropes, where the cabinet can be moved anywhere. A few similar cabinets were used by officials during the Qing to transport official documents when assigned to distant regions in the empire. A rare finely carved cylindrical bamboo incense box depicting Scholars amongst rocks and pine trees in a mountain landscape. This item was made in China in the late Qing period - the characters carved into the top read "Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi" which translates as "Made in the Guangxu reign Qing dynasty" (1875-1908). Condition - one 2cm age related crack at the top - otherwise excellent with no damages or losses and no repairs or restoration. 22.7cm (8.8inches) high.
