Porcelain with overglaze famille rose enamels

A late 19th – early 20th century famille rose vase, enameled profusely in the “hundred treasures” pattern and bordered with ruyi medallions.

Condition report: basically perfect condition, which some origin impurities to the enamels, and just one tiny shallow chip to the foot rim.

Japanese antique couch, elaborately carved with coiling dragons, curving arms are carved in the form of two dragons, the seat is fitted with a cushion covered in silk brocade with a Chinese design, Meiji Period. Size: 41 1/4" high x 49" wide x 22" deep. (the seat is 42" wide x 16/17" deep.)

Wonderful Japanese antique two panel byobu screen painting in ink and mineral colors on silk, Nihonga School, depicting a scene of a group of seven crows and a single magpie near a waterfall and hot springs possibly Onsen Baths, beautifully painted churning water and falls, signed and with hanga of artist Aizu Katsumi: born Fukushima Prefecture.

Exhibited Teiten and Bunten Exhibitions during prewar period.

Antique Japanese Bronze sculpture extremely well modeled and superbly executed with stunning details depicting a young Japanese philosopher Kinjiro Ninomiya Sontoku carrying a bundle of firewood on his back and an axe through the back of his belt. The interior of the base is entirely inscribed in Japanese characters.

CONDITION: Very good quality workmanship with excellent natural dark patina, the right hand, carved of bone, is possibly a later replacement.

Black Raku Chawan with wood box, both have the sign of the 12th. Kichizaemon Konyu ( 1857-1932 ).

The lid back of the wood box bares the appraisal and of Sen Sosa XII 'Sesai' ( 1863 - 1937 ), who has been the 12th grand tea master of Omotesenke.

We offer this tea bowl by order of a German collector.

The chawan is in good condition with no repairs. There are two small inborn kiln cracks on the rim.

This is a very attractive Japanese cloisonne vase by a rare artist. The vase is not signed but the work is very unique. A signed Goto vase with very similar work can be seen on page 79 of the book Japanese Cloisonne by Coben and Ferster. We used to own that vase and the mate that went to it. Chawan in Raku style, made in dry lacquer technique (kanshitsu) simulating ceramic. The lacquer is applied in such a way that you see small crevices and patches of red and brownish black lacquer in the same way we see it in Raku ware. Japan, Meiji era.

This is a very fine and extremely detailed Japanese satsuma vase. It was made by Kinkozan but the style reminds me more of a Ryozan piece. It is signed on the underside with an impressed mark. It stands 7 1/2 inches tall and in 4 3/4 inches wide. The vase is in excellent condition.

This is Japanese porcelain vase from one of the great Meiji artists. It is signed Kawamoto Hansuke. The vase has a wonderful stout shape and is very heavy. It has what appears to be several firing flaws or just an unusual design to several of the flowers. The vase measures 7 1/4 tall and is 7 1/2 inches wide.

Rare blue sharkskin porcelain tea caddy with a bird, flowers, and butterflies. The bird and butterflies are glossy and do not have the sharkskin texture giving this piece a beautiful contrast which was not an easy feat for the artist to achieve. The blue background graduates from light at the bottom to darker shade of light blue at the top. Signed and in excellent condition, it measures 6 inches tall with lid on.

Made of gilt brass, 2 with gilt brass balls, the others with glass balls. One finial with chips to the glass, one finial lacks its attachment disk and one finial has been mounted on a brass foot. H. 5-6,5 cm. Ca. Late 19th century.

Lovely lacquerware inro, decorated with fish an seashells. With a coral ojime and a carved cinnabar lacquer netsuke. Meiji period (1868-1912). Signed at the bottom. Measurements: the inro 6x5,5 cm, the netsuke 3x2 cm.

AA carved soapstone figure depicting a reclining Scholar; holding a fan in his right hand. This item was possibly made as an object for the Scholar's table and was made in China in the Qing dynasty, probably during the second half of the 19th Century (circa 1850-1900). An antique Chinese porcelain water coup glazed in a baby blue hued glaze. The bottom of the coup contains an inscription reading: Da Qing Guanxu Nianxin or Produced During the Reign of Emperor Guangxu , age 1875-1908. Size: Diameter 4" Height 1.3"

The rock contains an inscription which generally reads "Along with similar joyous and pure things".
