Very nice Satsuma water jar often used in Japanese tea ceremony. Made in a drum form, the body features boys at play. Being quite versatile, it would make a wonderful biscuit or candy jar from which to offer guests a treat. In excellent condition, it measures 5.5 inches high.

Japanese antique 2-section butsudan, a Buddhist shrine for use in the home. The front exterior of the shrine is made with beautiful red finish hardwood with black lacquer sides, folding silk meshed interior doors with gilt lacquer panels of flying cranes, a beautiful miniature temple scene inside where the image of a deity and offerings are to be placed. A carved gilt panel with dragons hangs overhead. The butsudan stand has four sliding black and gilt lacquer panels with images of trees, cranes...

A Chinese signed calligraphy poem on paper from the Republic period. This scroll is from the collection of the Hollywood actor James Coburn. The poem was written during the New Year of 1917. It expresses the budding of spring, possibly in relation to Sun Yat Sen, alluding to the beginning of the Republic of China. There are two red seals on the scroll. The image measures: 23.5" wide by 50" long.

Antique Japanese imari vase with a rounded middle and fluting mouth and foot. Two small grey and yellow fu dogs serve as handles. The body of the vase has bright yellow enamel background with scrolling vines, and images of fu dogs playing with each other. The bottom of the vase is marked in red. This chest has four large and medium drawers with decorative backplates handles, and large iron locks incised with different flora. The top section has a side lockbox with three small drawers inside. Gorgeous Rare Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) from Sado Island, made of kiri (paulownia) wood with translucent reddish orange lacquer finish, fantastic iron hardware including large and elaborate lockplates featuring phoenixes, safe door open to two small drawers, Meiji Period (circa late 1800's). Stunning original Condition Size: 44 1/2" high x 45 1/2" wide x 17 3/4" deep.

An impressive and hard to come by pair of Japanese architectural lanterns that once flanked a Japanese Buddhist temple. Cast in bronze with eight separate sections;The verdigris bronze octagonal roof-form top with its jeweled flame finial; Eight auspicious Buddhist symbols; Each roof panel has the Tokugawa family crest (aoi mon); And edged with eight open mouth dragon head terminals.

The underside of the roof has its eight delineated rafters; And craved in relief swirling cloud format...

Chinese jadeite belt hook carved with a chimera climbing on the body of a dragon with arching head, pale green tones in the head of the dragon turning into bright, luminescent apple green tones down the back of the chimera to the other end. Size: 5" length, 1" thick

Original blond two section Antique Japanese Isho tansu. Beautiful natural kiri wood used in the entire construction of the piece. Kiri has desirable breathing characteristics for a clothing tansu.
