A Longquan celadon tripod censor, covered overall with green tone under crackled glaze to body. Large Thai Sawankhalok round form covered stoneware box in the shape of a mangosteen fruit decorated in iron-black/brown glaze on a buff-colored ground with a zig-zag pattern on the lid and stylized scrolling vines on the bottom. Stem finial. 14th to 16th century. 4 3/4” diameter x 4” high. Very good overall condition. There is a tiny pinhead-sized flea bite on the bottom section at the edge of the rim (see image). The hand with the palm turned inward and all the fingers extended downward touching the singhasana (pedestal supported by a lion) The gesture of touching the earth or calling the earth to witness commemorating Buddha's victory over temptation by the demon Mara. A very rare covered box with high foot alike or similar with stem cup shape, decorated incised to the top of lotus design and classic scroll below. Possibly Five Dynasty to Northern Song period. Description: A Dingyao Dish was applied with characteristic creamy white glaze.
In elegantly curved rim, the dish was decorated in the center with carved floral pattern.
It was preserved in perfect condition except some burial stains were left on the surface.
