This monk is the disciple Mahakasyapa who was particularly close to Buddha. In the tradition of the Zen-masters, Kassapa is the first of the monks to receive from the Buddha "without word or writing" the unspeakable highest truth of the Dharma.

The head of the Buddha is covered with a multitude of small pointed hairlocks called "Shwebo-thorns" on top of which is the stupa shaped flame. The vases alone are 16.5 inches (41.9 cm) tall by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide. They are 6 Lb. They are in good condition no repairs, chips, or cracks, except holes drilled at the bottom, retouched and repainted by the manufacture at one vase's corner, and another vase has a foot slightly filed (as seen in the photos).
