Antique Japanese makie lacquer suzuri bako (writing box) and matching large stationary box signed with bold signatures on the bottom reading: 光琳 青々Kо̄rin Seisei, an artist name used by Ogata Kōrin (1658 – 1716).
Both boxes have domed lids and are decorated entirely in gold lacquer with highly raised designs of flowers and silver pine branches. The flowers are further embellished with inlaid shell. Inside the boxes are motifs of swirling water.

An incredible Japanese antique Kanazawa kaidan staircase, with hand quartered sawn keyaki drawer fronts and black sliding door framework. Mixture of sliding compartments and pullout drawers. Attached original hand rail that is very unusual. Stunning original lacquered reddish orange coloration. Wow, this Iga Shinogi Mizusashi by Atarashi Manabu is as good as it gets. The torn and slabbed surface is rough, accentuating the particular grains of Iga clay, covered in a smattering of smokey charring and spattered ash. The vessel comes enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Shinogi Mizusashi. It is 17.5 cm (7 inches) diameter, 20 cm (8 inches) tall and in perfect condition, directly from the artist this summer. It compliments perfectly the Chawan from the same firing.

Stunning Antique Japanese ema or wooden plaque on which Shinto worshippers would write their prayers and wishes to be received by deities or spirits. Hand painted with three bannered ships coming to shore amidst rough, rolling waves. Pine trees poke in from the bottom and leftmost side with gold flakes accenting the horizon.
