Extremely rare example of Early Ming dynasty large blue and white bowl, decorated to the exterior with Eight Buddhist emblems or such known as Bajixiang supported by Lotus flower. Xuande six characters mark to the rim and of the period. Condition is damaged and re-glued. Diameter: 29 cm and Height: 10,3 cm.

Museum quality piece. The front decorated with two dragons and the flaming pearl, the back decorated with bats, the standing rim decorated with colorful flower bands, both on the inside and outside. A rare thinly potted and extremely well painted deep dish with exceptionally fine porcelain body. The base carries the six character reign mark of the Jiajing emperor (1522-1566) enclosed within a double circle but this item was probably made later, in the 16th/17th Century, during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619).
