GBP £150 Chinese Ming Dynasty / Transitional Blue & White Porcelain Bowl
This small blue & white porcelain bowl, or dish, was made during the early to mid 17th Century. Although it is attractively decorated in underglaze blue, we are unsure what the unusual central design represents; our best guess is that it is the conch (a symbol of prosperous travels) together with the Shou character (meaning longevity). the glaze is crackled in places. Diameter 11 cm. It is in fine condition and has no repair... Made of pottery, glazed in green and ochre, cold painted with red and black pigments. H. 19 cm. Condition: expected age wear, no repairs. Excavated in the southeast of the Shanxi Province. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)
