While Kitaoji Rosanjin can be arguably called the most eccentric figure in Japanese art world in 20 century, Ando Minoru (1927-2015), 安藤實 is another name that comes to a mind. A painter, ceramist and calligrapher, he is widely recognized in Japan but almost unknown in the West.

The Ando company, established in Nagoya in 1880, is the only cloisonne remaining workshop in Japan originating from the Meiji period (1868 - 1912) that is still active in the creation of cloisonne enamels. Very old wood statue of Buddhist goddess Sho Kannon Bosatsu (one of the many forms of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara), wearing formal robes, and a diadem with bronze decorations on the two sides, standing on a lotus, her left hand holding a vase, her right hand in abhaya mudra. An ancient necklace made from fossilized wood also know as Pumtek. The word Pumtek means "buried thunderbolt". This type of necklace is very rare. Size: 56 cm from end to end.

A seal from what is now Burma/India with carvings of an elephant and a flower. The handle is smooth and well-worn. The ivory has taken on a rich brown color with age.

Period: Pyu Dynasty - 100AD to 500AD)

Size: 3.5 cm (1-3/8 inches, Diameter of seal = 2.6 cm (approx. 1 inch)

Condition: Part of the seal has broken away from age (see photos). Has a very beautiful patina.

A very rare Solid gold rare ear pick very finely made with an ornate chain made during the Pyu Dynasty that is now Burma. This is a very unusual gold item from that era.
