A Japanese boxwood okimono of a rat-catcher preparing the miso on a big bowl before catching the rat. Black horn eyes. Excellent quality and great patina. Jigaku signature under the base. A Jiaqing mark and period circular dish, covered in a rich and bubbly cobalt blue glaze. Surface wear suggest that this dish had once been gilt-decorated with a dragon among clouds. The roughly written mark is typical for non-official wares of this period.
