Wonderful Chinese antique gray pottery tomb figure of a horse and rider, beautifully sculpted and retaining much of it's painted slip details, the merging of geometric and naturalistic features exemplifies Han Dynasty sculpture. 206 B.C. - A.D. 220. Comes with certificate of authenticity. Size: 12 1/2" high x 12 " long

A pottery whistle in the form of an unusual face with its lips puckered as if whistling. The top of the whistle has green and brown glazes (sansai glaze) - the bottom is unglazed. The glaze has a very fine crackle. Under magnification, tiny pits can be seen on the fine crackle, which is consistent with the appearance of glazes for pieces of this period.

Period: Tang (618 - 907 AD)

Condition: Good condition. No breaks...

Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Pottery Horse with Female Rider

This attractive model of a horse and rider was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a grey pottery that has been cold painted in a creamy-white pigment on top of which have been applied other coloured pigments. Note the detail of the female rider's facial features and hairstyle.

Lovely group of 3 Mingqi pottery figures, partly glazed in green and painted with black, red and yellow pigments. Detacheable heads and hands. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The dating of this group is consistent with the results of TL-test no. 05231113 by Laboratory Ralf Kotalla. H. 29 cm. Nice burial condition with expected age wear. A rare and splendid genuine Ming Dynasty Tomb Pottery Horse bending it's head down with a seated musician playing the cymbals. This is one of the earliest Ming pieces, ca. 1400 A.D., depicting a beautiful and elegant horse with fine modeling. The horse's neck is arched and it's mane and tail are glazed in a rare and vibrant turquoise color. The musician's head is removable and his robe is painted in rich cobalt blue, red and turquoise pigments...

Chinese Pottery Tomb Lady Figure with partially glazed with amber to brownish robe, and hands tucked under the robe, 10 3/8" high, 2 3/4" wide, 2" deep, light brownish amber color drip glaze robe ran down to the bottom, with unglazed head and bottom feet area with some tiny old rounded chips to larger chip about 1/2" wide on the right upper arm area on the Brownish glaze.

This rare pottery figure was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is made from a grey pottery that has been "cold painted" in a base coat of white pigment on top of which have been painted pink, red and black pigments with a good deal of the original pigment still remaining. The holes in his sleeves are where originally would have been placed articulated wooden hands, now long since rotted away and lost...
