The center of the domed lid features a nobleman on horseback flanked by an attendant walking in front and behind. This rare and attractively-shaped vase or bottle was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) by one of the kilns at Yuxi county in Yunnan province, one of the first places in the world where blue & white ware was produced. It is "heavily-potted" and decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with floral and leaf designs. It is coated with a clear glaze that falls short of the sturdy foot... Pair of late Qing dynasty Guangxu period circular form lidded seal paste boxes, each decorated in two underglaze blue relief dragons chasing a flaming pearl on a white porcelain ground. An undulating wave pattern extends around the bottom. An apocryphal four-character Qianlong mark is on the base. 3 3/4” dia. x 2 1/4” high. Circa 1900. Very good overall condition.
