This unusual porcelain dish was made during the 16th century. It has been excavated from a landsite (as opposed to having come from a shipwreck) and the original enamels (mostly the "softer" red) have deteriorated due to long burial. The interior center with fruit within double circle and surrounded by ten day lily blossom heads to inner rim. GBP £550 Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Longquan Celadon Porcelain Bowl
This attractively-shaped porcelain bowl was made during the 13th / 14th century at the Longquan kilns, Zhejiang province. It is fairly "heavily-potted" and is coated both inside and out in a finely-crackled celadon glaze of good colour. The outer wall has been decorated with incised lotus leaves rising from around the foot, together with bands of incised lines surrounding the body. Diameter 12.5 cm, height 7.25 cm... Diameter approximately 13.5 cm.
Diameter approximately 13.6 cm.
There are green glazes on the back.
In good condition.
