A rare Chinese silver-inlaid bronze tripod bombe censer decorated with trailing flowers below a key-pattern band, each foot inlaid with a ruyi head. 12 cms diam. Early Qing dynasty, 17th/18th century. Inlaid Shisou two-character mark to either side of an impressed Xuande six-character mark. Good condition with fine old patina. Provenance: Inherited from a Suffolk, UK, family.

Miniature statue of a standing flautist, in formal robes, holding his flute with both hands. Bronze, with a beautiful red and green patina. China, Tang dynasty. Height: 7.5 cm. Obvious signs of great age, otherwise very good condition.

The cast of this large incense burner is of beautiful quality, the walls are very thin, the carvings are precise and the finish neat. The shape is atypical, of great elegance. The body rests on three feet. The decoration in slight relief, is inspired by that of Chinese archaic bronzes, presenting Tao-tie masks, dragons and stylized birds on a background of square spirals. Superb censer, richly decorated in relief with a chimera head on each side, the eight Buddhist symbols surrounded by foliage, the whole surmounting two levels of stylised lotuses. Reign mark beneath. White brass (or silver alloy) with a fine age patina. China, Qing Dynasty Guangxu period (1875-1908). Very good condition. NOTE: the censer is quite heavy.

This candlestick, of exceptional dimensions, was part of the decoration of the altar of a temple or a palace. It is made of cast lead and partially gilded on red and green lacquer. Exagonal shape. The partly openwork decoration mainly represents flower vases, but also stylized dragons, bats, flowers and coins. Some friezes of the upper edges are unsoldered, but the candlestick is complete, only a vase motif is missing from one of the 24 panels. The top shaft, candle holder is twisted and cracked...
