SOLD Antique Chinese figure of the goddess Quanyin seated with a child on her lap. Made of bronze and lacquered in red then black lacquer, this statue was once completely covered in gold. The goddess of compassion sits with one hand delicately balanced on her knee. The other hand holds the hand of the tiny girl-child in her lap. Both goddess and child are sculpted with beautiful expressions and naturalistic details. Qing Dynasty.

Size: 18 cm height, weight 1 kg. Shipping included.Small figurine representing Kuan Yin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, in formal attire and wearing elaborate diadem and necklaces, sitting cross-legged on an elevated throne around which reclining lions are showing. Bronze, with dark reddish-green patina. China, Northern Wei or Sui Dynasty. Height: 2 3/4" (7 cm). Strong erosion due to great age, right hand partly chipped (old accident) otherwise good condition. An extremely rare object.

The antique inscribtion says 'Ming Di Yong Ping San Nian Zhi', translatable as 'Made in the Third Year of the Yongping Reign of Emperor Ming'. Ming Di was the posthumous reign title of Liu Yang, who succeeded to the throne on the death of his father to become the 2nd emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Already Sold Wonderful 46 cm and 8,16 kg heavy Chinese bronze Guanyin Buddha from our Buddha collection, made in the 18th century. The Guanyin (Kwan Yin) is wearing a long robe and is sitting with two hands hidden in the clothes, holding a reel. Very smooth and kind expression.
