Large and well hand carved Chinese wooden statue of Confucius from the Qing Period, around 1850.

It is made of one piece of wood and has a fine red laquer and rests of gilt color. Very nice display item!

In very good condition there are a few age cracks which do not affect the integrity of the piece. There is some glue residue on the bottom where she was attached to an old lamp base. Made of camphor wood, gold and red lacquer. The countenance of the Buddha has a full broad complexion and down cast eyes in complete contemplation, flowing robes, hand forming the crown mudra. The back has a consecration covering and three guardian entities; Goat, man, and pig.

The crown chakra (sahaswrara in Sanskrit) is the seventh of the main chakras and it is located outside of the physical body just above the head...

A very rare yab-yum bronze from the end of the 19th. century ( Qing Dynasty 1644 - 1912 ), acquired for the van Norten collection in the early 30's of the last century in Sichuan showing the male deity in sexual union with his female consort. Yab-yum means Tibetan literally 'father - mother'.

A beautifully carved and gilt boxwood figure of Guan Yin / Guanyin. The goddess is holding the holy Buddhist scripture and has placed her hand between the open pages. China, Republic period, c 1920. The surface of the carving is covered with a thin layer of red that mixes with the gilt. The figure can be fixed to an oval wooden stand. Height (the stand not included) "4 ¾ / 12.3 cm. Condition: fine.

In metal-sheen-like patina, the wooden deity was depicted in serene mood by well carved features.
A portion of the base was missing, an old defect.
