Antique Japanese sumidagawa ware vase with an incredibly realistic three-dimensional dragon coiled all around the body of the vase. The vase itself is very textured in body with a vertically ribbed form as well as tight ridges horizontally. The upper body and neck are glazed in thick oil spill colors. The backside of the piece has a blue chop within a white gourd. Meiji period (1868-1912) Size: 18" H x 10" W

Antique Japanese Onigawara rooftile, often found on Buddhist temples. This rooftree depicts the lucky god Daikoku's hammer for prosperity and good fortune, with cascading waters down its sides. Meiji age (1868-1912) Size: 24" L x 6" W x 19" H

A superb Iga Mizusashi by Saji Kotaro enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 7 inches (18 cm) diameter, 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) tall and in excellent condition. Saji Kotaro was born in 1947, and relocated to Tajimi in 1977 where he opened a kiln in Yamabuki cho specializing in tea ceramics.

Ash encrusts one side of this flattened Signature form by Shigaraki Legend Furutani Michio enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Opposite is rich red terracotta and in between rivers of molten green glass. It is 45 cm (17-1/2 inches) diameter, and weighs 14 kg (30 pounds) plus the thick Kiri-wood box. This belongs in a museum of contemporary Japanese pottery...

A finely painted 19th C Japanese porcelain Hirado mizusashi used in tea ceremony to hold water. In excellent condition, it measures 5 inches high by 4" diameter.

A healthy, plump, round & gentle-faced, "Kintaro" doll holding a lively carp (also considered a symbol of strength and good luck). In folklore, Kintaro grows up to become a famous warrior. He represents the wishes of parents to have a brave, strong, yet gentle son. Size H: 23 cm W: 13.5 cm. Period: Early Taisho. Condition: Some wearing off of pigment on fish. Short rope that goes in front of hat is detached on one side, but can easily be re-attached (we've kept it as is)...

This is a are Banko teapot in pristine condition. This sea creature pattern is one of the most collectible ever created by the Banko factory.It has some history written on the underside that the buyer can remove or leave.

A Superb Shigaraki Chawan by Sugimoto Sadamitsu enclosed in the original wooden box signed beneath by the artist and endorsed by Tea Master Tachibana Daiki of Daitokuji Temple. It is 4 x 5 x 3-1/2 inches (10.5 x 13 x 9 cm) and is in fine condition.
Sugimoto Sadamitsu was born in Tokyo in 1935. A strong adherent to the Zen tradition, Sadamitsu established his own kiln at 33, receiving the kiln name from his mentor Daitokuji priest Tachibana Oki...

Very fine large Meiji Era Japanese porcelain bowl with a delicately painted floral motif accented with gold gilt highlights. The side of the bowl features cranes in various flying poses. There is an old staple and gold repair at the rim. Looking into the bowl it is not visible unless you are seriously looking for it. See last 2 photos. Bowl rings nicely. Signed on the bottom, this is a very large bowl measuring 12.5 inches across by 3.75" high.

A fine Tenmoku Glazed pot with Pine needle design by Kimura Moriyasu dating circa 1985 enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 8 inches (20 cm) tall and in fine condition. A vase with this same glaze is held in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan.
Kimura Moriyasu (b. 1935) studied pottery initially at the Kyoto Ceramics Research Facility (which turned out such masters as Hamada Shoji and Kawai Kanjiro) and then under his brother Kimura Morikazu...

Japanese 20th - 21st century floral design plate. The floral design starts at the bottom front of the plate and continues over the lip and up the inside of the plate, separated by black slip. Signed by artist on bottom. The plate comes with TOMOBAKO, original artist signed wooden storage box. The plate measures 10 3/4" in diameter and 3 3/16" tall.

Japanese Stoneware hanging Vase with green and purple color drip glaze over dark brown unglazed surface, 4 3/4" high, 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" wide, the condition is good, no damages.

An Oribe Dai-hachi footed basin by Koie Ryoji enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 11 x 7-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches (28 x 19 x 9 cm) and is in excellent condition. A few pre-firing chips are shown in the close-ups, glaze over-running theedges proof that they happened before the piece was fired.
Born in Tokoname, 1938, Koie Ryoji graduated the Tokoname industrial school and moved on to work at the City Ceramic Research Facility. In 1966 he established his own studio...

A set of five sencha steeped tea tea cups by the first Suwa Sozan decorated with three seasonal or auspidcious fruits and a poem by famed literatus Tomioka Tessai enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Each cup is 2-1/4 x 2 inches (5.7 x 5 cm) and is in fine condition.
Sozan I (1852-1922) was born in Kutani country, present day Ishikawa prefecture, where he initially studied before moving to Tokyo in 1875...

This rare and interesting ceramic work was done by one of the most renowned and loved waka poets of the 19th century, Ōtagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875). In fact, if you look closely at the attached images, you will see her finger imprints clearly preserved in the molded clay.

Born into a Samurai family but soon after adopted by the Ōtagaki family, from the age of seven to sixteen Rengetsu was a lady in waiting at Kameoka castle where she was trained in the arts and courtly graces...

Massive Japanese Meiji period Kyoto Satsuma earthenware deep scalloped rim bowl with 17 lobes densely painted on the interior and exterior with a profusion of gilt and enamel flowers. Four-character Kinkozan tsukuru mark with Shimazu crest to the base. Very heavily potted (weighs over 8 lbs.). Dates circa 1890 - 1910. 11 7/8” diameter by 7” high. Nicely carved wood stand included. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs...

This extraordinary piece depicting what appears to be a learned scholar (possibly of foreign origin?) being escorted by a young vassal, is done in fine white porcelain from the Hirado region of Japan. Hirado wares—alternately known as Mikawachi wares in some contexts—are known throughout Japan and also abroad for their high quality and fine craftsmanship and date back at least as far as the mid-18th century when they were produced exclusively for powerful lords and their families...
