Pair of Japanese antique abumi (horse riding stirrups), made of iron with silver inlay all over in beautiful designs of vines and leaves, the bottom of each stirrup is decorated with a bamboo motif, the foot areas are lacquered black, each abumi is inlaid with writing: Kaga Ishikawa Prefecture, Mori Hei Saku (artist's name and "signed by") lived in Komaki. Edo Period (18th century). Size of each: 9 1/2" high x 11 1/2" long x 5" wide.

A small antique Japanese iron tsuba decorated with motifs of cherry blossoms blown in the wind. The tsuba is decorated in a way where on one side is a branch of the cherry blossoms and the other side is the flowers scattered on the ground. The flowers are done in a shakudo style technique. Samurai Helmet depicted respectfully displayed on the stand. Painted on silk with ink and kindei, which is gold pigments. The kabuto was an important part of the equipment of the samurai, and played a symbolic role as well, which may explain the Japanese expressions, sayings and codes related to them. Kabuto maedate, or ornament that sits in the front of the Japanese helmet. Long-horned monster face with fangs and pointy ears and tufts of hair. Polychromed and gilded wood with horse hair and metal wire. Japan, 19th/ 20th century.

Silver canines gleam menacingly in the corners of the mouth of this terrifying Edo period sabiji-nuri iron Menpo face mask. It has a three lame nodokake also with sabiji-nuri, laced with tight blue chord. The mustache is a bit ragged and there are typical chips around the edges from use.

A conical Jingasa battle hat 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) high, 14-1/2 inches (37 cm) diameter entirely gilded outside with genuine gold. Inside is lacquered black and retains the tie holds for the liner. There is some writing within, and a maru-ichi crest. There is damage to the peak and edges, but is quite impressive looking, and was likely used by the immediate vanguard of the Daimyo. One of two variations we have, they are from Omi province, just outside of Kyoto in old Japan.

Antique Japanese lacquered samurai sword stand,holds five swords. The stand is simply done in black lacquer with gold paintings on the front and back panels. The bridge of the stand is decorated with a view of Mount Fuji divided into two sections. One side shows Mount Fuji with a dragon ascending the peak of the mountain. The other side shows the foothills of mount Fuji with a view of the bay of Tago (Tago no Ura). Age: 19th century. Size: length: 19.5" width 7.5" height: 19"

A set of sword fittings compromising of a tsuba, pair of menuki, and fuchigashira. The menuki is chiseled in the katagiri style on shakudo with gold iroe embellishments. The fuchigashira are done in polished shibuichi bronze. The set comes with a special kiri box with purple chirimen silk to store the set.

A late Edo iron tsuba with chisled decoration of a pine trunk and boughs on one side and flowering prunus blossom with bamboo on the other side. The three representations comprising the "Three Friends of Winter". The simplicity of the chiseled smooth surface successfully imitating sumi-e painting. Good condition - presenting more nicely than in the lighting used for our photography. Emits a clear tone when tapped. A pleasing piece that would add character to a prospective blade...

Antique Japanese Sword or tachi with a black lacquered saya, fuchi kashira decorated with motifs of bamboo leaves (sasa), and an iron tsuba. The sword contains a signature which reads: Seki-za, Yoshida Kenkichi.

A sublime antique Japanese tsuba centered on the theme of the ocean. The tsuba contains motifs of abalone shell, basket weave pattern, and waves peeking through the patterned holes near the area where the blade would have been fitted. Tsuba is done in iron with mixed metal accents to highlight the abalone shell and rope. Age: 19th century, Edo period. Size: Diameter: 3.25"

Antique Japanese tsuba done in the finest craftsmanship. Made of iron with extensive shakudo nanako plate overall and with many gold blossoms. A motif of very detailed chrysanthemums densely covers both sides of the tsuba. The view in general would be titled, "Kikka Senpi zu" or Chrysanthemums in full bloom. Age: Possibly Momoyama Period. Japanese Mid-Edo Period Akao Tsuba with exotic palm tree design. The palm design is done in great detail and realism. Signed YOSHITSUGU. The Tsuba measures 2 13/16" tall, 2 3/4" wide and 5/32" thick.
