SOLD. Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu in characteristic seated pose of royal ease, sculpted in relief from a brown-gray igneous stone. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1800. Very minor old surface loss. Variegated lichen accumulation and patches of dried moss.
Height: 39.5 cm Beneath the figure appear two Japanese characters that translate as "No. 7," implying that this piece originally was placed among 32 similar depictions in a grouping of 33 Kannon Bosatsu stones...
The Kura
Sold, Thank you! A bronze dragon water spout dating from the late Edo or early Meiji period (mid to later 19th century) in an unusual full body configuration. Most spouts appear climbing over the edge of a basin, and thus only the front of the dragon need be cast. This however writhes across the edge of the basin, the entire body exposed. A pipe extending from the stomach allows the water to be attached. It is 29-1/2 x 11 x 10 inches (75 x 28 x 25 cm)...
The size of Imari Bowl: 6 1/4" Dia x 2 1/8" H.. This is unusual design of geese flying with gold cloud and moon over Susuki Grass(Japanese pampass Grass and wild flowers.) The design like Ogata Korin's. The inner border with red band with gold. It is deeper than regular Namasu bowl and little bigger. Outside bowl has nice Karakusa design in blue under glaze and lavender color painting. The condition of bowl excellent, no chip, no crack, and no hairline. No scratch on the surface...
