A very fine gilded bronze Buddha, sitting on Naga. H. 17 cm. Condition: Casting flawa, chips to the foot rim, the Naga head, which used to be behind the Buddha head, is missing. Nevertheless a very attractive piece with a serene expression.

A pair of Burmese wooden disciples, with calm facial expression, lacquered and gilded with inlay of colorful glass pieces on the borders of the robes, one of them sitting in adoration posture with two hands attached to each other indicating respectful manner. Traces of original lacquer and gilding remain in excellent condition.

Ayutthaya period Bronze Buddha, Siam, mounted, most likely survived the destruction of this ancient Thai capital by the Burmese in 1767, with some parts of the bronze statue partially melted (see photographs). A substantial, Ayutthaya period (15th-16th century) Sawankhalok kilns alms bowl with stout, carved foot. Compare with the gift of Osborne and Gratia Hauge, and Victor and Takako Hauge to the Freer and Sackler Galleries of Asian art, Washington DC, object number S2005.280. A discovery from a Baltimore antiques center in the 90's - the present example is a bit more rustic than the museum example...
