We like to present you this Korean Hori Mishima tea bowl for the Japanese Tea ceremony, made in the late 16th/early 17th century.

It is a low wan shaped tea bowl. Its expertly thrown body with its lower part was trimmed with a potters knife and shaped into the typical Korean bamboo node foot, creating a chirimen (crepe de chine) effect at the bottom. A signature work decorated with finger twirls of poured glaze over the pale-colored sides of this bottle form by Hamada Shoji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Monda Kakubin dating from the 1960s. An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) from the Niigata region of Japan. The front section is made of burled keyaki (Zelkova) and the sides are sugi (Crytomeria). The tansu has a pair of burled wood sliding doors over two burled drawers with heavy iron locks. Exceptional burled Keyaki wood.

A Japanese antique merchant (Choba) tansu made of thick quartered sawn keyaki wood with keyaki burl wood doors. The wonderful hardware is hand made iron. The casing is crytomeria. The tansu's top section has three top drawers. The mid section has sliding doors with an interior shelf and adjacent two drawers. The lower section has 4 small drawers and below them 3 more smaller drawers. Beautiful original finish in great condition.

An antique small tansu of kiri wood from the Taisho period. Sliding doors behind which books and small objects were stored. Lower drawers were used to store documents, photos, ephemera, receipts, etc.

Original bronze hardware. The sliding door handles feature a quarter moon casting light on a garden of flowers and the lock plates have a Kamon *family crest" design of a Botan (Peony) blossom with its leaves encircling the flower.

An rare an early gilt on bronze Tang-sui votive on four curved feet with vine branches holding seven Buddhas. These images appear early Buddhist iconography representing the Buddhas of the Past. Tibetan Repousee raised Silver on Burlwood Tea Bowl, Tsampa Tea Bowl, Ca. early 1900, 4 3/8" diameter-top rim, 2 5/8" high, 2 1/2" diameter-bottom rim, smooth silver lining over the top of the Burlwood rim, raised intricate hand hammered design on the side, continue on with intricate silver work over the high raised foot, and cover the entire sunken bottom with large Silver Conch Shell.
