€900.00 Long temple banner, also called "bridge painting" hand painted on paper representing Taoist deities in all sorts of situations. A stick is affixed on both ends. China, mid 19th century, Yao ethnic group, south-west China. Length: 4.12 m. A few restorations and losses, otherwise good condition.
Mirror finely cast in the shape of a flaming "triratna", its stand framed by two small "apsaras". Bronze, with nice green and red patina. Traces of "tika" on some areas. Nepal, 18th century. Height: 20 cm. Erosion due to age, otherwise very good condition.

sold This is pure antique Edo: Wan-shaped tea bowl made of dark, iron oxide bearing, sandy Karatsu clay. The thinly thrown body is covered with the typical white, feldspatic Shino type glaze. It differs from the Mino Shino glaze by being glossier due to a higher ash content. Under the glaze a line was applied in iron oxide resembling the skin of a whale (kawakujira). SOLD. Pair of koma-inu (lit. Korean dog, but typically referred to in English as lion dog), one with mouth open ("Ah") and the other with mouth closed ("Un"), each sculpted from a single block of wood. Muromachi Period ca. 1500, possibly earlier. Old loss, most notably the tail, front sections of the rear feet, and ear tips of both beasts; insect damage; overall softening of the lines and contours; and traces of gesso-like foundation and polychrome.
Height of "Ah" piece: 21.4 cm The shape of the jar is very typical for the Siwa Culture with the curved mouth and the handles. Apart from some minor repairs to the mouth rim it is in good condition.
H. 13 cm. This jar is from a collection of 30 Neolithic pieces that I bought from a Dutch collector.

Sold Antique Japanese keyaki (elm) wood temple carving of a fu-dog. Beautifully carved with mane of swirling curls and mouth full of sharp teeth, this fierce guardian would have once graced the eves of a buddhist temple roof. Edo Period. With contemporary black metal stand.
