Nicely painted decoration of three flower arrangements on each cup - the bouquets respectively centering a peony, a chrysanthemum and a camellia bloom (appearing to represent blooms from different seasons.) Antique Japanese gyosho bako, or merchant's chest, in a tall and slender style with many drawers. It is made of kiri (paulownia) wood with a dark brown lacquer. Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. Both have large scrolling swirls carved above and below them. The backs have numerous holes for stringing. The bone is probably from a Yak. Period: 18th/19th Century. Size: 16cm & 17cm. W. Both 4cm. Description:

A pair of Jianyang hare-furs tea bowls was well mold in fine shape.
In evert mouth rim, the bowls were stand by circular foot rings.
Characteristic abrasion was found at the foot ring where the body clay was covered with burial adhesives.
Incursions were also found on the mouth rim.
They were in lovely sizes- very hard to find on the market, but ideally for tea ceremony.

Date: Southern Song dynasty, 1127-1279.
