already sold This gorgeous grey Shino-Oribe Chawan was made around 1620, the late Momoyama and early Edo Period. The cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) chawan is made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style (flaring mouth) make it contemporary with the late Oribe bowls. The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical black oniita engobe inside and outside - with the exception of the bottom - over which a white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured. This item was made in China, possibly for export, during the 19th Century.
Condition: there are aging cracks to the base and minor chips and old bumps.

SOLD Vintage Chinese red lacquered trunk with gilt lacquer designs of lotuses, reeds, and cranes. It has two metal handles on its sides, a front lock, and comes with a sheet of glass to lay over the top of the chest so objects can be placed over it without damaging the lacquer.

Sold in our Liverpool shop - 2019/ 利物浦店内售出 - 2019 A thickly potted high footed porcelain dish decorated with 'famille rose' enamels depicting three Manchurian Cranes in flight above waves and framed with a simplified 'key fret' border.
Inside the foot, on the base, is the Minyao six character iron red seal mark of the Tongzhi emperor.
This item was made in China during either the Tongzhi (1862-1874) reign or a little later during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908).

SOLD Charming cast iron antique Japanese Tetsubin (tea kettle) Classically shaped, with charming quality. Rope design is looped around short neck of tetsubin and tied into a bow on one side. Handle has loop rope design along top. Gorgeously aged, Tetsubin has ridged mouth with a lotus flower motif nob on the top of lid.

SOLD. Small-scale standing Fudo-Myo, the right hand wielding a knowledge-sword, sculpted in relief against a flame-type mandorla from an iron-rich igneous stone. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1800. Minor old loss. Traces of polychrome.
Height: 24.2 cm A charmingly cherubic Fudo-Myo, the ignorance-slicing, hindrance-torching manifestation of Dai-Nichi Buddha. An exceptionally good piece. Meiji-Era wooden box included.

$1,600 Antique Chinese robe made from beautiful red silk with auspicious designs of clouds, its interior lined in light blue silk. Its sleeves, collar, and bottom are lined in deep blue silk, with gold thread butterflies and flowers, and bordered with pink, white, yellow, and green auspicious motifs with a blue background. The back of the robe features a large bulb-eyed goldfish at its top and along its bottom are several birds done in coiled, gold thread.

SOLD Matching pair of oxblood porcelain monochrome vases. Vases have gorgeous red tone with vertical streaks of varying blue, and green white dripping glaze. Inside of vases are white, with residual color dripping into mouths. Beautiful condition, pear shape in form, shorter necks with fluted rims. Lips have a white ring.
