Chinese Qing dynasty compressed globular form porcelain brush washer covered overall in a rich flambé glaze with a jun-like quality. The base is has an applied bronze wash and the foot rim is unglazed. The edge of the rim is bordered with a thin, geyao type crackled white glaze. Hand carved wood angel with glass eyes from a rural Catholic church in the Philippines. Comes with a wood gold colored horn which rests on its hand. Measures 34" high; Wings total 16" across. Circa 1940-50s. Condition very good, some age cracks.

The body of the vase is decorated with scrolling vines and auspicious motifs scattered around the background, a motif often seen since the Ming dynasty.
