The generously proportioned curving top rail is made in five parts using half-lap pressure peg joints terminating in a curved look beyond the goose-neck side and front corner post. The back corner posts continues through the frame of the soft mat seat to form the back legs and front legs enclosing the cusped apron carved in relief with curling tendrils...

Condition: the cover is missing and there is a small hole in the base; there is copper oxidation inside the tail and there are traces of the original black lacquer coating between its scales and in some of the recesses. / 6 inches high; 15 cm / 6 inches across. SOLD ! Thanks to Australia ! A Yuan Dynasty octagonal "belimbing shaped" jarlet which most likely represents the so far best existing piece of its kind. Please look in any private - or Museum collection and you will not find a better example. A jarlet of octagonal ( belimbing ) shape, decorated with splashed iron brown spots and a Qingbai ( Yingqing ) glaze over a porcelain body. The flat base unglazed. Yuan Dynasty 1279 - 1368. Diameter: 5,7 cm. H: 6,3 cm. Condition : Perfect.
