~~~SOLD~~~ A splendid Chilong Dragon with a bifurcated tail is presented on the front of this unusual bottle. The material is limestone of a dark hue but under decent lighting exhibits a snowstorm of whitish inclusions.

£475.00 A well-carved ivory snuff bottle depicting two of the sixteen Buddhist Arhat. The bottle is undoubtedly carved in Japan as the neck is made from a separate piece of ivory and screws into the body of the bottle. The carving style suits the subject matter and the bottle has a pleasing patina from handling. There is an unidentified studio marking on the base.

$325 DESCRIPTION: An attractive scholar's calligraphy brush, crafted using long brown horsehair bristles attached to a bulbous ox-horn ferrule and segmented, solid ox- horn shaft. A very handsome brush in good condition from the latter Qing Dynasty, which would have been used for calligraphy or painting. DIMENSIONS: 14” long (35.5 cm).
Small statue of Buddha, in monk's robes, standing on a lotus, his hands in abhaya and varada mudras. Hollowed at the back. Tenon below the lotus. Bronze, with reddish-green patina and traces of soil encrustations. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 9.8 cm. Tiny casting defect on the lower left side of the robes, otherwise very good condition.
A beautiful early 20th C. Chinese Dehua porcelain seated gaunyin Buddha with original wooden stand in excellent condition . H:10” without stand. Marked China.

The dark blue enamel with gilt decoration. The interiors with turquoise enamel and the bases with paler blue. Two boxes with composition finials. Chinese 19thC. Diameters: 6.2, 5.3 and 4.1 cm.
Condition: some wear to gilding, minor small chips and a flake.
The actual colour of the enamel is darker than in the images.

The figure is placed on a large Lotus throne on top of high hexagonal plint, both in fine Sancai colours - a two-colour green and yellow glazed robe. He wears a high hat. Finely painted facial details. Lotus thrones are very rare for Ming pottery figures...
