( 1465 - 1487 ).The design of this bowl is based on 'palace bowls' with Chenghua reign marks, of which an example in the Ataka Collection is illustrated by T. Nakano, The Panoramic Views of Chinese Patterns, Tokyo, 1985, pl. 109, and another in Selected Ceramics from the Collection of Mr. & Mrs. J. M. Hu, Shanghai, 1989, p. 52, no. 19...
Large Qing dynasty Guangxu period cylindrical scroll pot or brush pot decorated on opposing sides with a white foliate cartouche decorated with the one hundred antiques motif. The medallions are set against a blue background with white prunus blossoms. The pot has a massive presence, measuring 8” high x 8 3/8” diameter and weighing over 6 lbs. 19th century.
