In the 19th century the silver mounts were added by an unknown Dutch silver smith. Hallmarked with the 'old sword'. the woman of many Chinese Ethnic Minority groups did not cut their hair. It was often worn on the top of the head in a bun,and sometimes intertwined with lengths of an ancestors hair for added protection from evil spirits.

Antique Quanyin stone carving, the bodhisattva of compassion. She is seated upon a lotus throne with her legs crossed in the lotus position, her left hand holding a container, with her right hand performing the akash mudra or Buddhist hand gesture, increasing the space element within. She wears beautiful open robes with delicate patterns and a crown upon her head.

Dates circa 1920.

A superb quality very large pottery figure of a male attendant or official, dating to the earlier Ming Dynasty, 1400-1500 AD.

The figure is placed on a high hexagonal plint and wears a fine two-colour blue and turquoise glazed robe. The unglazed areas have pigmented colors in red, black and white. Finely painted facial details.

The head is attachable as often seen on the largest figures from this period.

A very rare large antique TIBETAN SWORD with silver, iron and shagreen skin on the sheath. Intricately and beautifully decorated with a Taotie Mask, Deer, Tigers, a Phoenix and a Dragon on one side, while the other has detailed scrolling, foliage and a copper buckle for attaching.
