Massive Chinese Jin to Yuan dynasty (12th/13th century) Henan dark brown/black glazed horizontally ribbed ovoid form stoneware jar with high, wide shoulders narrowing at the base. The thick glaze drips down toward the flat, unglazed base. The rich black/brown glaze, referred to as “temmoku” by the Japanese, is highlighted by a russet colored cylindrical neck and rim. Measures about 13” high x 13 1/2” diameter. Very good overall condition with typical surface scratches to the glaze.

Chinese scrolled painting executed in ink and color on silk with two beauties seated in a garden setting. Two vertical rows of sumi ink calligraphy and a red square seal are at the upper right. A rough translation of the inscription is: It doesn’t take a saint to play musical instruments. I have to call you a lady, Bo Ya. The statue is hollow inside. It dates from the 19th century, and the display stand was added in the middle of the last century by our family. It is in very good antique condition with some traces of age...

SOLD Chinese antique large lobed bowl, made of heavy copper and enameled with raised repouse design of flowers and scrolling vines on the outside and with lovely yellow enamel on the inside. The enamel work on the flowers is delicately done with lovely colors on a yellow ground to match the inside of the dish. The stand is made of hardwood and intricately carved with elaborate details and long curving legs. 18th/19th century.
