The album has a lot of wear, but the photos are in excellent condition. Most of the photos are 8.5 x 6 inches (22 x 15 cm) with several that are 12 x 9.5 inches (30 x 24 cm). Finely cast unusual statue of Hindu god Kartikeya, wearing jewels and a loincloth, standing on a stylised lotus.The right hand of this statue is poised as if holding a staff and the left hand rests on his thigh. He is seen as a mendicant with just a loincloth on. This form of Kartikeya is also called Dandayudhapani (the one who holds staff in hand).Bronze, with nice age patina. A Persian small brass or bronze box and lid from the Qajar period, 19th century. Of square shape with indented corners and exquisitely engraved with flowers and birds. A small circular reserve indicates which side of box and lid respectively are meant to fit into each other. Width "2 1/2 / 6.5 cm, height "1 2/3/ 4.2 cm. Condition: fine.

Two strands of Kushan/Bactrian of mixed stone (mostly carnelian) beads. I acquired these along with coins dating from 1st- 4th CE from the same site in North West Pakistan, so these can be dated no later than 1500 years old. There are a few agate and quartzite beads in the lot, some with traces of “etching”. The crescent shaped beads would have originally small ringed shaped ornaments that have been drilled and “knapped” to some extent to accommodate them being strung...

An antique Indian miniature panting of harem musicians. Three beauties sit on an ornately decorated carpet and pillows. Two of them play instruments while a third claps in time. Around them is a lush garden with birds and a fountain. In the background, a marble pavilion stands with an ornate red and gold canopy. Wealthy residences had a protected area where all the women of the house lived. This scene takes place in the antahpur (inner courtyard) of such an area...

Ensemble of vintage silver and ancient banded agate beads from Sri Lanka. These were acquired in Kandy in 1998 or 1989, the banded agates are all hand carved and are at least 1000 years old (conservatively). Antique Indian bronze sculpture of the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesha, known as the Remover of Obstacles. He stands in dance position, a crown on his head and garland of flowers around his shoulders. In four hands he holds his attributes including his goad or ax (cut off all bonds of attachment), a bowl of sweets (the whole world is at your feet and for your asking) and the end of his broken tusk (keep the good, throw away the bad). Three large old Indian reverse glass paintings in expensive silk mounts with carved gilded frames. Undated, estimated to be late 19th early 20 th century. Overall size of each is 66 x 52 cm. Can be viewed in central London.

Incense burner in copper alloy (cast bronze and embossed and cut brass). Oriental work from the 19th century or before. Probably Ottoman but maybe Syrian? The hinge was consolidated by a riveted piece of metal and one of the three feet was replaced as one of the photos shows? The three legs are fixed to the base by a system of finely executed 'butterfly' nuts. The assembly is slightly twisted as can be seen in the photos. Height: 25cm Diameter: 20cm

Antique Indian jeweled tassel. Suspend from a Chinese hardwood display stand, this Indian tassel is woven with gold, threaded with pearls and ends with a umbrella form over a tiny bell - all set with pearls, emeralds, rubies and diamonds in 18k gold.

Formal Indian Sari (just like the ones you see in Bollywood movies), worn for weddings or important religious occasions. This has never been worn. I acquired it from an estate where it has been sitting in a trunk for the past 20 years, and the inside humdity, which caused the brown dye to bleed into the embroidered border somewhat. Please examine images. This L: 5m x 1.4m and is handloomed silk. It was woven in Banaras in the two toned Tanchoi style and silver thread “jari” embroidery...
