A beautifully carved and polychromed alabaster figure of a standing female divinity, wearing a dark green sari scattered with a gilt floral pattern, both hands held out towards the front, youthful face with large eyes and simple gilt diadem encircling her black-painted hair, Indian, 19th century. Size: 31" high x 13 1/2" wide x 7 1/2" deep.

From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a large and fine vintage thangka, either Tibetan or Nepalese, executed in a subdued yet very elegant palette emphasizing substantial gold use, along with blue, coral, gray, brown, taupe, white, and light green, all painted in an unusually meticulous and finely detailed fashion that is almost more like satsuma workmanship than typical thangka painting...

Long Chinese/Tibetan rug, made of wool, woven with design of 5 dragons and swirling clouds on rust color ground, circa first quarter of 20th century. Size: 181" long x 32" wide

Originally part of a full sized Tibetan adult costume, this piece was cut down to complete a childs festival costume. Decorated with turquoise, coins, tassels and silver ornaments, this type of textile accessory would often be attached to the elaborate headdress or hat and drape down the back to complete the wearers costume. The Tibetan people are not wastefull and items of festival garments in any condition are hard to acquire. I have had it hanging on my wall for a number of years...

19th Century Tibetan Yogin Thangka, 32.5 x 22.5 inches, 82.5 x 57 cm. Most of these thangka were photographed through glass frames, so there may be a little blurriness. This thankga was in an exhibition at the University of Texas Art Museum.
